Final Movie Project

The video I created was about the rock cycle. I just gave brief information about the three main types of rocks: igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary. I shot my own video clips that I thought might fit well with the information I had. I used voice over to guide through the videos. I edited the videos so that they each would be the right length for matching up with the narration. The transitions between video clips and slides allowed for a smooth video.

Favorite Sites

There are many sites out there that are so beneficial to teachers. Many are filled with lesson plan ideas and links for students to use for educational games, etc. Some of my favorites are:

http://www.mpsomaha.org/reagan/
This is our own school's website which links me to all of our district sites and tools. It also has many websites for the students to use to study and practice what they're learning in school.

http://edhelper.com/
I became a member this year to this website. It has a ton of lesson plan ideas, workbooks, printouts, etc. to use. I have found so many useful tools on this site.

http://pics4learning.com/
This website is full of images that students can use that are safe. Many apply to educational material.

Final Podcast

My podcast is all about Rocks and the Rock Cycle. Host Sarah Stone takes listeners through each type of rock giving more information and allowing them to see how each is formed. The pictures I used were found on rock websites. The first picture is pictures in a word. I used the magic wand tool to create this picture. The second picture has a boarder around it and a text effect on the bottom. The final picture is a collage of the molten rock and igneous rocks that it can turn into. There are other titles and transitions in the podcast as well.

Podcast Subscription

The podcast I subscribed to was Digital Storytelling. I liked this podcast because it is a great idea to do with students and would be a fun way to incorporate many things into the classroom. In the podcast, students are telling a story based on artwork that they created. The stories are very kid friendly and fun to listen to. It would be very fun to use digital storytelling with my students to practice creative writing, fluency, art, science and any other subject could easily be incorporated. Students love these fun projects, but making them meaningful to curriculum is also important.

Favorite Video

The video I chose was a Schoolhouse Rock video on Nouns. Grammar is something we teach every week and sometimes it would be nice to just shake things up a bit. I thought the video was cute and it's nice to know we can get these older useful videos on this website.
